YALE DEFEATED IN TENNIS

University Team Won Annual Contest at New Haven, 5 Matches to 4.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Harvard won the fourteenth annual tennis match from Yale at New Haven on Saturday morning by the score of 5 to 4. The score would doubtless have been more one-sided had not Dabney and Niles defaulted to their Yale opponents in the doubles in order to return for the Brae Burn tournament in the afternoon. The old members of the Harvard team played in the best form and won all their matches while the new men were less successful.

The summary::

Singles-Niles (H.) defeated Spaulding (Y.), 1-6, 8-6, 6-4; Dabney (H.) defeated Stevens (Y.), 6-4, 6-1; Pearson (H.) defeated H. Bundy (Y.), 6-2, 6-3; N. Bundy (Y.) defeated Cutting (H.), 3-6, 6-2, 6-0; Bretz (Y.) defeated Hackett (H.), 6-3, 6-1; Pell (H.) defeated Jones (Y.), 6-2, 8-6.

Doubles-Pell and Hackett (H.) defeated Mitchell and Jones (Y.), 6-1, 6-4; Jones and N. Bundy (Y.) defeated Pearson and Cutting (H.), 6-3, 6-4; Spaulding and H. Bundy (Y.) defeated-Dabney and Niles (H.), by default.
