LIVE UPDATES: Pro-Palestine Protesters Begin Encampment in Harvard Yard
This afternoon at 4.15 o'clock the University, second, and third crews will hold a race, starting at the bathing beach near the Cottage Farm Bridge and finishing in the basin opposite the Union Boat Club, a distance of somewhat over two miles. The race will be for the purpose of trying out the men under the stress of hard rowing, and it will be carefully watched by Coach Wray from the launch. After the race the squad will be reduced to two eights and a four-oar, and the men dropped will join their class crews, although any man who shows great promise may be again taken on the University squad. A few changes may be made in the make-up of the second crew after the race.
Since February 23, the date of the first work on the water, all three crews have advanced rapidly. The University crew, of late, has run the stroke up high on the last short stretch to the boathouse, and has seemed to move along fairly well. The second boat shows a good drive and dash. The third crew has suffered much from lack of a consistent order.
The third crew will be given one length's start over the second crew, which in turn will start two lengths ahead of the University eight.
The orders of the crews will be as follows:
University crew--Stroke, Sargent; 7, Waid; 6, R. Cutler; 5, L. Withington; 4, Bacon; 3, Faulkner; 2, Lunt; bow, E. Cutler; cox., Blagden.
Second crew--Stroke, Richardson; 7, P. Withington; 6, Hooper; 5, Smith; 4, Waite; 3, Whitney; 2, Forster; bow, Ellis; cox., King.
Third crew--Stroke, Shillito; 7, Marvin; 6, Eaton; 5, Beane; 4, Hanfstaengl; 3, Macleod; 2, Loring; bow, Jowett; cox., Fales.
