GAME WITH FORDHAM AT 3

Baseball Team Will Meet Strong Opponents.--Regular Infielders to Play.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University baseball team will play Fordham on Soldiers Field this afternoon at 3 o'clock. In case of rain an attempt will be made to play the game on Monday at 4 o'clock. Either Hartford or Hicks will pitch, and Simons and MacLaughlin will resume their places in the infield.

For Fordham either Mahoney or Eagan will pitch. Mahoney started the game last year and was replaced by Egan after the fourth inning. Jackson, the catcher, and A. Scheiss, at first base, are the only new players on the team. Last year's game was won by Fordham, 9 to 7, after the University team had established a lead of 7 to 2 in the first four innings. Early this season Fordham, 3 to 2, principally on account of the latter's errors. Yale got only two hits off Mahoney.

The University team stands very much in need of the experience that this game will afford, as only three others remain before the Princeton series. There has as yet been almost no opportunity to try out the infield in a game. Injury or illness has prevented its playing together in any settled order. Moreover, in the Virginia game, when it was nearest intact, there were few chances for fielding and no work with men on bases. This week the cold and rainy weather games and warm weather are badly needed during the next two weeks.

The batting orders: HARVARD.  FORDHAM. Lanigan, 3b.  l.f., Gargan Harvey, c.f.  s.s., Coffey Currier, c.  p. or c.f., Mahoney Aronson, r.f.  c.f. or p., Egan MacLaughlin, 2b.  r.f., Scanlon Dana, l.f.  3b., E. Scheiss Briggs, 1b.  1b., A. Scheiss Simons, s.s.  c., Jackson Hartford, Hicks, p.  2b., McCaffery
