Results of Tennis Matches Yesterday

In the qualifying round for the College championship in tennis, which was played yesterday, N. W. Niles '09 defeated E. L. Beard '10, 6-1, 6-1, 6-3; and A. Sweetser '11 defeated C. S. Cutting '12, 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1. The final match will be played tomorrow at 3.30 o'clock at the Longwood Cricket Club in Brookline. Last year Niles defeated Sweetser in the final match 6-2, 9-7, 6-4.

In yesterday's play Niles easily defeated Beard by all-round superior work. Beard was erratic and inclined to hit the ball too hard. The match between Sweetser and Cutting was very exciting and close, but in the fifth and deciding set Cutting tired and Sweetser was able to win easily, displaying his best form.
