1914 Eleven Given Hard Scrimmage

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Freshman football squad was given its second hard scrimmage of the season yesterday afternoon. The team played well together for so early in the season, and the fault of fumbling was not so noticeable as it was in Monday's practice. The first team kept possession of the ball and tried out its plays against the second. Very few forward passes were used, but trick plays, such as delayed passes and quarterback runs, were tried frequently and with fair success.

The backfield of the first team is heavy and fast and a strong offeuse will probably be developed after the backs have had the experience of a few preliminary games together. Before the scrimmage, the two squads were given the usual practice in tackling, the dummy, falling on the ball, and breaking through, and a short signal practice was held.
