Several different combinations were tried in the University crew yesterday in a series of short stretches before the Newell boathouse. As a result of this, one change was made in the order of the past few weeks: Strong, formerly rowing 6 in the second, replaced Leslie at 4 in the University boat, the latter dropping to the second.

Freshman Race Yesterday.

The fourth Freshman crew defeated the second and third eights yesterday in a one-mile race from below the Harvard bridge up to the Cottage Farm bridge. The third boat had a lead of one length over the second, while the fourth eight was given an equal handicap over the third. At the finish the fourth crew was a length ahead of the second, while the third boat came in about an equal distance behind the second.
