W. C. Greene '11 Won Oxford Prize

The Newdigate prize at Oxford University was recently awarded to William Chase Greene '11, of Baltimore, Md., for a poem entitled "King Richard the First Before Jerusalem." Greene is the Rhodes scholar from Massachusetts; last June he was odist of the Class of 1911 and second marshal of the Phi Beta Kappa Society.

The Newdigate Prize is of twenty-one guineas in value and was founded in 1806 by Sir Roger Newdigate. Competition for the prize is open each year to the undergraduates of Oxford University. Among the winners of the prize in past years have been Matthew Arnold, Robert Stephen Hawker and John Addington Symonds.
