Cornel West, Harvard Affiliates Call for University to Divest from ‘Israeli Apartheid’ at Rally
Harvard Training Quarters, Red Tou, Conn., June 5, 1913.--The work of the University crew today was extremely satisfactory. The benefits of the long rows in smooth water were shown in a mile brush with the Freshman eight. Both crews started rowing about 30 strokes to the minute, the university boat jumping into the lead and opening up distance as they went on. The stroke was gradually raised ending at about 36, and at the finish the Freshman crew was about a length astern. The time was not given out but was said to be exceptionally fast for the last half mile. The crews had a slight favoring wind and tide.
In the afternoon the University eight paddled down-stream for two miles and a half, showing constant improvement. The work of the first four--oar was not quite so satisfactory for it was defeated by over a length in a half mile race with the second four.
