DECREASING ENTRANCE CONDITIONS.

The Freshman entrance figures show the same tendency which was noted in this column last year. There is a marked increase in men entering by the new plan, together with an increase of 70 in the total Freshman enrollment. There is also a gratifying decrease in men refused admission.

The new plan is making possible the entrance of public school men outside this state on a closer plane of equality with privately prepared men. At the same time the standard of the men after entering has not fallen off. This be-speaks the success of the new plan of entrance examinations and points to a closer co-ordination between Harvard and the secondary schools.
