BASEBALL BEGINS IN CAGE

UNIVERSITY FIELDING CANDIDATES TO REPORT TODAY FOR FIRST SPRING PRACTICE.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University baseball squad will hold its first spring fielding practice in the Cage this afternoon at 3.30. All fielding candidates should have taken their strength tests by now, so that all the time may be devoted to work under the coaches.

Battery candidates have been at work since shortly after the mid-year examinations. Coach Sexton has cut down the squad, and has been able to get a good idea of the candidates retained. Captain Dana J. P. Wingate '14 and Coach Sexton will now be in the Cage every afternoon to carry on the fielding work begun last fall.

Owing to the loss of men by graduation, there are several positions open; and all men with ability should report. Since the diamond is still in poor condition, outdoor practice will not be held for some time. Until the work begins on the outdoor diamond 1917 fielding candidates will not be called out.
