CREWS OUT TWICE AT RED TOP

MEN GET INDIVIDUAL COACHING.--MORNING AND AFTERNOON PADDLES.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Harvard Training Quarters, Red Top, Conn., June 2, 1914--This morning Coach Wray took the men out for individual instructions in the pair oar, paying particular attention to a firm catch and a steady pull through to the finish. Following this, all the crews went out for a four-mile paddle down-stream. The University crews rowed in their regular order, but there was a change in the Freshman eight. Higginson changed over from bow to 2, Young went from 2 to 4, forcing out Lovell, and Potter went from 3 to bow, Richardson going to 3. This afternoon the crews went out again about 6 o'clock, the University boats going down over the four-mile course and back at a low stroke. The crews went very well in smooth water and in a slightly favoring wind and tide. The Freshmen started a little later and returned with the University crew. Mr. Herrick now has entire charge of the second crew preparatory to the Henley race, and coaches the men from his own launch.

The crews rowed in the following order:

University eight--Stroke, Lund; 7, Soucy; 6, Parson 5, Schall; 4, Harwood; 3, Murray; 2, Gardiner; bow, Reynolds; cox., Sargent.

Second eight--Stroke, Chanler; 7, Curtis; 6, Morgan; 5, J. W. Middendorf; 4, H. S. Middendorf; 3, Meyer; 2, Talcott; bow, Saltonstall; cox., Kreger.

Freshman eight--Stroke, Brown; 7, Cahot; 6, Stebbins; 5, Ely; 4, Young; 3, Richardson; 2, Higginson; bow, Potter; cox., Cameron.

Freshman four--Stroke, Chadwick; 3, Coolidge; 2, Culbert; bow, Eaton; cox., Henderson.
