Madame Vandervelde, Wife of Belgian Minister of State, Will Talk in Union This Evening.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Madame Lalia Vandervelde will tell the story of the devastation of Belgium, the scattering of her people and their suffering in the Living Room of the Union this evening at 8.15 o'clock. As wife of the Belgium minister of state and, till recently, herself a resident of Brussels, Madame Vandervelde is eminently fitted to talk on the present condition of her country and people. She is an intimate friend of King Albert and Queen Elizabeth of Belgium and brings letters from both sovereigns approving of her project of appealing for aid in America. She left Belgium with her husband and the Belgium commission to see President Wilson.

Throughout the fall Madame Vandervelde has been touring North America on behalf of the Belgian relief fund, speaking in the leading eastern and Canadian cities. Her appeals have won generous financial response, both rich and poor having contributed. The money collected will be used for the purchase of foodstuffs to be sent for distribution to the American ambassador in London and our ministers in Holland and Belgium.
