CROSS-COUNTRY MEN DOING WELL

Work Will be More Severe From Now on.--Forty Freshmen Out.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University and Freshman cross-country teams had their first run on the Belmont course yesterday. Coach Shrubb took the Freshmen for an easy run over the short course, while the University runners ran slowly over five miles of the regular course, leaving out the part across the golf links. A large squad reported, and prospects are encouraging, especially as regards the Freshman team, for which there are over 40 candidates. The less experienced Freshman candidates ran from the Locker Building under the direction of Coach Kent.

There will be a walk from the Locker Building this afternoon at 3.45 o'clock. Tomorrow the teams will go over the Belmont course at a faster pace than yesterday's run.
