PHILLIPS STARRED FOR TEAM

UNIVERSITY WON. -- CUNNINGHAM BROKE COLLAR BONE.--MORGAN PLAYED.

The University hockey team easily defeated the Massachusetts Agricultural College seven by the score 4 to 0 at the Arena last evening. Phillips was the star of the contest, scoring all of the four goals and being responsible for most of the aggressive play on the part of the University. Cunningham in a mix-up near the boards, fell heavily against the side of the rink and broke his collar-bone. He remained in the game for over 7 minutes before Curtis took his place and the injury was discovered. He was immediately sent to the Infirmary and will undoubtedly be out of the game for the remainder of the season. Contrary to all reports, Morgan returned to the lineup and played a very effective game.

The game opened rather slowly but after the first four minutes it developed into a speedy contest, with occasional brilliant dashes on both sides. Phillips scored the first goal after 12 minutes, 32 seconds of play on a short, quick shot. A minute later he scored again after Morgan got the puck within striking distance and passed. This ended the scoring for the first half. The team-play was unusually good in this period, but several of the men seemed to lack their usual snap.

Phillips scored in the second half in 31 seconds on a short shot that Buttrick failed to judge correctly. Shortly after this the substitutes were sent in for all positions except Phillips'. Although they kept the puck for the most part in their opponent's territory, they missed many chances to score and their shooting was poor. Phillips brought in the last tally after 18 minutes, 21 seconds of play.
