Trials for the University tennis team will begin in about a month. From the candidates a University squad will be chosen. Probably the six best will be taken on the southern trip, commencing April 17th and lasting through the spring vacation.

Last year the team lost only one match, that to Longwood, and the team this year promises to live up to this record. Seven members of last year's team have been lost by graduation, including W. M. Washburn '15, J. J. Armstrong '14, and the captain, E. H. Whitney '14. Nevertheless R. N. Williams, 2nd, who pressed McLaughlin for first place in the National tennis ranking, and L. Curtis 2nd, '16, remain for this year's team. On the University team in the intercollegiate meet last fall were, together with these two men, R. Harte '17 and J. S. Brown '17. As Harte is playing baseball only the latter will be available.

J. Pffafman '16, who was captain of the 1916 Freshman team, and G. C. Caner '17 are promising men, while W. Rand '17 and J. Wooldredge '16 have also shown ability.
