MILITIA CALL UPSET 1919 CREW

Red Top, Conn., June 19.--The orders calling out the militia caused a considerable stir here at Gales Ferry this morning, but it was found that only F. Parkman '19, of the Freshman crew, was affected by the order. He was granted a furlough, and returned this evening, but before the coaches knew of it, J. P. Howard '19, and R. Cobb '19 were tried at bow, while A. Thorndike, Jr., moved to Parkman's place at 5.

The members of the Eli squad in the Yale Battery were all granted special furlough, so that the race can be held on Friday.

In the morning the first and second boats had their regulation paddles downstream to Cow Point. This afternoon the Freshmen went to the Navy Yard and back. The seconds rowed a mile down-stream and paddled another, and came back the same way. The first eight went over the four-mile course, but did not try for time.
