MILITARY MEN BEGIN STUDY

CAPT. CORDIER TO EXPLAIN WORK AND MAJOR HIGGINSON WILL SPEAK.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The first meeting of Military Science and Tactics 1 will be held in the New Lecture Hall today at 1.30 o'clock. Captain Cordier will explain in full all matters relating to the course and will outline plans for the reorganization of the Harvard Regiment according to War Department regulations. If he is able to reach Cambridge in time for the meeting, Major Henry Lee Higginson '55 will also speak. All members of the Regiment last year, those who have already enrolled in the course and all men interested in military training of any sort are invited to be present.

The period during which men may enroll in Military Science and Tactics 1 has been extended until next Tuesday. Except in the case of Freshmen no previous military experience is necessary in order to elect this course.

Provided enough men enrol in the course the War Department will fully equip the Regiment at its own expense. A minimum of 100 men is required before the course can qualify as a unit in the Reserve Officers' Training Corps. For every 100 men above that--up to 400--there will be a non-commissioned officer detailed to the University to assist in the practical instruction.

Between 400 and 600 are already enrolled in the units at Technology and two new corps of engineers have been formed. Owing to this increase in the enrolment, Technology now has two army officers detailed for instruction
