The University hockey team and the B. A. A. fought out a lively 30-minute scrimmage at the Arena yesterday afternoon, in which the Crimson players came off with a 4 to 2 advantage. There was a let down in rigid discipline during the last ten minutes, when Abbott, in full goal regalia, starred in the forward line. The scrimmage ended when Abbott and Wendell collided, and the latter found himself minus a front tooth. Both teams set a fast pace at the start of the scrimmage, although the University seven did not look quite as good as they did against the substitutes the day before. Percy was given a day off, Condon taking his place and scoring the team's third goal.
The scoring started when Baker followed in on a long shot of Townsend's and knocked the puck into the net. Rice scored next from a scrimmage close to the cage. The for several minutes the teams battled evenly, keeping both goal-tenders busy, and finally Condon scored a clean shot on a perfect pass from behind the goal by Rice.
After this, Osgood started things going for the B. A. A. Once he got free, and only a pretty stop by Abbott prevented a score. A minute later, Osgood and Hutchinson got together, eluded the defence by some good passing, and Osgood slipped the rubber into the net. Then Tuck carried the disc the length of the rink, passed the backs, drew the goal out, and passed over Osgood, who tallied again easily. The last goal of the scrimmage came when W. Rice scored from a mix-up.
That there was no scoring during the remaining ten minutes was due to excellent goal-tending on both sides, especially by Martin, who made many spectacular stops.
The Freshman seven will scrimmage, the regulars in the Arena this afternoon.
The lineup was as follows:
