Professor Charles Joyce White '59, formerly registrar of the College and professor emeritus in mathematics, was found dead in his room, 5 Prescott Hall, Cambridge, yesterday morning. Professor White had been ill with grip for several days.
Professor White was born in Cambridge, January 5, 1839. In 1861 he was appointed assistant professor of mathematics at the United States Naval Academy, then at Newport, R. I. He was appointed assistant professor of mathematics at the University in 1870, and was made a professor in 1885. He was registrar from 1875 until 1888.
