TEAM B SECURED FIRST VICTORY

Pitching of Loring and Harrison Proved Too Much For Regulars.

Playing erroless ball and with Loring and Harrison holding the regulars to four scratch hits, Team B defeated Team A in yesterday's practice game for the first time this season, by a score of 4 to 1. The game was marked by some fast fielding, Team B's work in the field being especially brilliant. Two fast double plays were the features of the fielding, Reed, Caley and Abbot shutting off a promising rally for Team B in the third, and Frazer, Kerr and Holly preventing Team A from scoring in the fourth by a fast bit of fielding.

Several changes were made in the line-up of Team A: Ellis taking Casey's place in centre field on account of the latter's absence; Bond returning to his old place in left field, and Zach starting the game behind the bat for the first time. Team B started the scoring in the first inning and obtained what proved to be a safe lead, tallying three runs. Wyche started off by drawing a base on balls; McLeod, being hit by Boyd, who was pitching for Team A, reached first, and both scored when Holly drove out a long double. Cummings, who was playing in right field for Team B for the first time, singled, Holly scoring the third run for the substitutes. Team B scored again in the seventh when Harrison hit out a long sacrifice fly to Percy, Henderson, who had reached third on an error and a passed ball by Stephens, tallying on the throw-in. The regulars scored their only run in the seventh, when Bond was passed by Garritt, stole second, and reached home. Percy was thrown out at first.

Yesterday's game was featured by work of Loring and Harrison, who pitched for Team B, the former striking out six men, passing none and allowing only four hits in the six innings he pitched, and Harrison passing but two and holding the regulars hitless in the last three innings.
