VOLUNTARY ROWING TO START

Work on Machines in Locker Building Will Begin Tomorrow.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Indoor rowing practice for Freshmen and informal candidates will start at the Locker Building tomorrow afternoon at 2.30 o'clock. The practice will be voluntary work under the direction of Coach Haines, and will consist largely of instruction in the theory of rowing and workouts on the rowing machines which have been transferred from the Newell Boathouse.

The practice will be held in the Locker Building instead of the Boathouse because of the present scarcity of coal. By keeping the Newell Boathouse closed until spring, a half-ton of fuel can be saved each day, and for this reason the transfer to the Locker Building was arranged. Although the tank will not be in use, there will be adequate accommodation for all candidates who report, at least until after the mid-year period.
