MERRIMAN ATHLETIC CHAIRMAN

NAMED TO SUCCEED GREENOUGH--TOOK CHARGE OF MEETING LAST NIGHT.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Professor C. N. Greenough '98 has resigned his position as chairman of the Athletic Committee. In his place the Board of Overseers has appointed Roger Bigelow Merriman '96, A.M. '97, B.Litt., Ph.D. '02. Prof. Merriman presided at last night's meeting of the Committee.

Since 1908 Prof. Merriman has been assistant professor in history at the University. In 1914-15 he was exchange lecturer at the French provincial universities.

For some time Prof. Merriman has been connected with athletics. At present he is a member of the Boston Tennis and Racquet Club and, when an undergraduate in the University, he played on the 1896 football team.

At an interview with a CRIMSON reporter Prof. Merriman said, "In the old days we regarded all our football opponents as absolute rascals and acted accordingly. At present, however, until I have become better acquainted with athletic affairs at Harvard, my only policy will be to maintain a frank and cordial relationship with Princeton and Yale."
