MEMORIAL DAY AND FINALS.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Memorial Day, being the thirtieth of May, falls this year on a Sunday. The legal holiday will consequently come on Monday, the thirty-first. On Thursday the final examinations are scheduled to begin, and according to the present Faculty plan, regular classes are to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.

As the schedule is so arranged that almost every man in college has examinations on the first Thursday, the present program offers no opportunity for study and rest before the tests begin. The two days of classes in the middle of the week can but prove an inconvenience. They will amount to nothing more than a farewell from Faculty to students. With a college year that is already a week longer than usual, the elimination of these class exercises cannot infringe seriously on the completion of the subject matter of any course.

Either the Faculty should declare Tuesday and Wednesday holidays in which students may prepare for their tests, or else advance the examination schedule to begin on Tuesday.
