Candidates for the three upper class crews reported at the Newell Boat House for a short meeting at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon and were addressed by Coach Brown. Dave Hennen Morris of New York was appointed temporary captain of the Senior class crew and Robert Helyer Thayer of Southboro of the Sophomore crew, while the Juniors chose Frederick Shattuck Whiteside of Portland, Ore., as their temporary leader.

Coach Brown spoke at length on training, and on attendance requirements, which will be rather light until the crews can get onto the river. When regular work begins, the men will report five times a week. Races will be held between the various classes in the spring, the winner of which will meet the winner of the similar class races at Yale. The meet between the two victorious crews will be held on the Charles this year over a length to be picked by the University.

Dr. Howe, coach of the Freshmen, announced yesterday that a silver cup would be offered this year, to be given to the winner of wherry races between the Freshmen Coxes and the Freshman Manager Candidates to be held in trial heats about May 1.
