At two o'clock this afternoon the "Americans All" squad from the Recruit Educational Center at Camp Dix will give a demonstration at the Union. The meeting is held under the auspices of the Union, the R. O. T. C., and the Shannon Post of the American Legion.
This squad is made up of nine men, two Americans and seven men of foreign birth. None of the men could read or write at the time they joined the Army, and several of them could not even speak English. On joining the Army they were sent to Camp Dix, one of nine camps at which there have been established Recruit Educational Centers. Here they were given a four months course in English, and then were formed into a squad to tour the country and show the progress made by the Army in Americanzation.
A Well-Mixed Crowd
The men in the squad and their birth-places are as follows: Louis Oravsky, Czecho-Slovakia; Graham Allen, North Carolina; Harry Jensen, Denmark; Alexander Yesczanin, Russia; Maurice Blomme, Belgium; Peter Woody, Georgia; Felix Loera, Mexico; Andrew Hirchow, Poland; and Ljubousir Antonijevich, Serbia.
The program for the afternoon will comprise a short drill, with acrobatic stunts, after which each man will give, in English, a short outline of his life, telling his experiences since landing in this country, and of the benefits he has received from the Army.
