TEAM A SCORES SINGLE TOUCHDOWN IN PRACTICE

Churchill Crosses Line for Lone Tally of Game -- Final Day of Spring Football Yesterday -- New Material Benefited by Work Says Coach Knox

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The last practice of the spring football season was held yesterday afternoon when Coach Knox, after giving the whole squad a brief workout, put two almost evenly matched teams on the field for a regular game, lasting four eight-minute periods. Team A received against the wind, but in spite of the excellent backfield work by Churchill and Pfaffman, was unable to score throughout the half. Team B, when it got the ball, was likewise impotent, and the contest swayed back and forth with the advantage on neither side.

Team A Scores

Team B received in the second half, and started a drive up the field, but after two gains lost the ball on a fumble. Team A immediately lost ten when Pfaffman was thrown behind the line, and the latter punted fifty yards to Team B's twenty yard-line. There followed an exchange of kicks which left Team B with the ball on their own ten yard-line, at the end of the quarter. They punted again, and the ball was in their territory and in their opponent's possession. This was Team A's chance, and they made it good. Churchill, sent around end on a kick-formation play, broke away for a thirty yard run and fell over Team B's goal-line.

Team B taking the kick-off, attempted at a come-back. Pratt twisted through center for twelve yards, and Hovey knifed off tackle for eight more, but a forward pass and an end play failed to gain, and Pratt kicked. Three line plays and an incomplete forward by Team A followed, and the game ended.
