In the second of special hurdle races held yesterday afternoon at Solders Field R. S. Whitney '21 was the winner in the 65-yard high and G. T. Barker '23 in the 120-yard low hurdle events. Both of these men will be awarded minlature bronze hurdles by Mr. W. F. Garcelon '95. Two heats in the first race and three in the second, all exceptionally close, were held before the final heat. Whitney won his event by a pace from C. H. Hauers '23, while Barker defeated W. J. Reycroft by less than a foot.
The first Novice meet of the season will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2.30 o'clock on the Stadium track. Only members of the University and Freshman squads are eligible to compete who have never represented the college or 1924 in a meet, or have never placed in a handicap meet at the University.
