SCRUB SEXTET TO MEET POMFRET SCHOOL TODAY

Schoolboys Have Strong Combination--Advancement of Ladd and Guild to First Squad Leaves Large Gap in Second Team Line

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The second University hockey team will journey to Putnam, Connecticut, today to face the Pomfret skaters in the first scheduled game of the season provided the ice is in a fit condition. The schoolboys are reputed to have a strong team so the game should be a good test for the newly organized seconds. The advancement of Ladd and Guild to the first squad left a large gap in the machine which was just being built up, but there are enough good substitutes on the squad to make up for the deficiency. Moreover the strong opposition of the Pere Marquette team gave the new combination a chance to work together under pressure, and a marked improvement was noticed as a result of the work-out. The seconds still have a strong threat in Burden and Hovey who have shown some steady, fast work throughout the season.
