M. I. T. GRAPPLERS GAIN 18-8 DECISION OVER CRIMSON TEAM

H. B. WALKER '22, UNIVERSITY LEADER, INJURED

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University wrestling team went down to an 18-8 defeat before the strong M. I. T. mat-men at the Hemenway Gymnasium last night. The visitors showed a superiority in most of the bouts; but the Crimson grapplers gave some stiff opposition to the best of the Technology wrestlers. The feature bout was between Captain Butler of M. I. T., who has held the New England Intercollegiate championship for two years, and Curtis Nelson '24, one of the steadiest of the Crimson men. The advantage of the bout was constantly shifting hands and it was only after the whole period had been held that Butler won the decision on a two minute eight second time advantage. Captain H. B. Walker '22 who has been winning his bouts all season was unable to meet his man as he is out with an injury which will keep him from entering the Princeton contest. His absence created a serious gap in the lighter weight, but it was made up by the brilliant work of Benoni Lockwood '22 who easily won his bout in the unlimited class.

The summary:

115-Pound Class.--Bruner (T) defeated A. W. Lewin '24 (H). Fall in 3.16.

125-Pound Class.--H. J. Freedman '23 (H) defeated Hazeltine (T). Decision 2.35.

135-Pound Class.--Weatherby (T) defeated J. P. Crawford '24 (H). Fall in 7.58.
