Southern Trip Nets Victory Over Pennsylvania--Tiger and Army Players Prove Too Strong--Englishmen Oppose Crimson Tomorrow

The spring trip of the University lacrosse team resulted in defeats at the hands of Princeton and the Army, and a victory over the Pennsylvania twelve.

On Tuesday Princeton's inexperienced team, which is the first official aggregation the Orange and Black has had in 30 years, proved to have the better offence and during the second half outplayed the Crimson stick men and gained a 9 to 3 victory. The University took the offensive in the first half, which ended in a 2-2 tie, but failed to threaten the Tiger goal except once in the latter half.

The University won a 1 to 0 victory over Pennsylvania at Philadelphia on Thursday. The game was fiercely fought throughout although neither team developed an effective offence.

On Saturday the Army badly outscored the Crimson team, 11 to 3, in a rather one-sided contest. The Army's defence was particularly good, allowing the University attack only three shots at their goal. Coach Catton's men tightened up in the second half although the cadets pierced the University defence for half a dozen more goals. Captain Pratt, Scheffreen, and Cole excelled in the Crimson play.

Coach Catton will send the squad through intensive team-work drill today in anticipation of tomorrow's contest with the Oxford-Cambridge team. The mistakes brought out in the playing during the southern trip will be corrected and it is expected that there may be a shift in the line-up.
