COLUMBIA WRESTLERS PIN DOWN UNIVERSITY

Eastman Only Man to Win for University by a Fall--Nelson Loses to Captain Johnson, Eastern Intercollegiate Champion--Final Score 16-11

Handicapped by the loss of two first string men, the University wrestling team went down to a 16-11 defeat before the more skillful matmen of Columbia last Saturday in the Hemenway Gymnasium. The visitors took an 11 point lead in the first three bouts and clinched the match by reason of the victory of Captain Johnson, who won the eastern intercollegiate championship last year, in the 158-pound class.

The feature of the afternoon was the extremely close struggle between E. H. Bates '25 and Parsonett, runner-up in the 175-pound championships last year. The former won by a decision after a full time bout. C. A. C. Eastman '24 was the only University man to win by a fall, although much credit is due to his opponent, Puig, outweighed by more than 40 pounds.

The summary:

115-Pound Class.--Baranchia defeated F. A. Warren '25 by fall.

125-Pound Class.--Reisner defeated W. C. Westhaver '24 by decision.

135-Pound Class.--Schwartz defeated H. J. Freedman '23 (captain) by decision.

145-Pound Class.--George Karelitz '24 defeated Donahue by decision.

158-Pound Class.--Johnson (captain) defeated Curtis Nelson '24 by fall.

175-Pound Class.--E. H. Bates '25 defeated Parsonett by decision.

Unlimited Class.--C. A. C. Eastman '24 defeated Puig by fall.
