More than 3000 Boy Scouts marched on to Soldiers Field last Saturday to participate in a rally that was watched by several thousand spectators, including Governor Cox, Lieutenant-General Miles, and other distinguished guests. The program contained many impressive features, of which perhaps the most prominent were the saluting of the flag by the entire body of scouts, and the repeating of the oath.
Among the most interesting of the demonstrations was that in which troop 9 of Boston put 12 men over a wooden wall 15 feet high in 35 seconds. In the fire making contest without matches, E. D. Davenport of Troop 4 won the championship, adjusting the bow and string and whirling the pivot until he obtained a spark to light the flame all in 43 seconds.
