LIVE UPDATES: Pro-Palestine Protesters Begin Encampment in Harvard Yard
Winning five races by safe margins, the University runners administered a complete whitewash to a strong M. I. T. team in the relay meet at Soldiers' Field Saturday. At the same time, the Freshmen, after dropping the sprint relay, took the remaining three events from the yearling Engineers with the same ease. The Freshman medley relay failed to materialize.
From the point of view of a contest, the mile relay, with each man running three laps, developed the most interest. Not until the third leg was the Tech runner left behind, Robb gaining a 30 yard lead, which Captain Merrill, in the anchor position, stretched to 45. The University medley team, made up of easily the most brilliant combination, made fast time, but met little opposition.
The Summary:
One-lap--Won by Harvard (Howard, Harris, Bunker, Broome); second, M. I. T. (Manion, Drew, Hoxie, Amback). 1 m., 4 4-5s.
Three lap--Won by Harvard (Brooks, Rogers, Robb, Merrill); second, M. I. T. (Howlett, Bateman, Boardman, Joppe). 3 m., 37s.
Six lap--Won by Harvard (Newhall, Coburn, Chapin, Barker); second, M. I. T. (Symonds, Bailey, Fife, Makepeace).
Nine lap--(Won by Harvard (Kobes, L. Ryan, Sherburne, Kane); second, M. I. T. (Holt, Hooper, Grossman, Preston). 15m., 2 4-5s.
Medley--Won by Harvard (Allen, three laps; Chase, one lap; Watters, six laps; Cutcheon, nine laps); second, M. I. T. (Davidson, Toury, Rogers, Howe), 6m., 34 1-5s.
