With a strong and well-balanced team chosen from the best of the squad of 40 Freshman wrestlers, the largest since the establishment of the sport at the University, the 1927 matmen will open their season against the Springfield Y. M. C. A. Freshmen this afternoon. The meet will start on the main floor at Hemenway gymnasium at 3 o'clock.
The line-up of the Freshmen, as determined by the recent trials, will include several preparatory and high school stars. B. C. Turner of Andover has proved himself easily the strongest man in the 115-pound class. M. B. Rapoport of Franklin, N. Y., and J. C. Hinkle from Blair Academy are champions of the 125 and 135-pound classes, which produced the largest number of candidates; H. R. Wood of Milton will represent the 145-pounders; and J. H. Campbell will wrestle in the 158-pound class. W. H. Ennis and R. W. Ayre, both from Middlesex, will oppose the Springfield heavyweights, Ennis in the 175-pound class and Ayre in the unlimited class.
