BATTERYMEN CALLED OUT FOR EARLY SEASON WORK

COACH MITCHELL TO BE IN CHARGE OF MOUNDSMEN TILL APRIL

In the hope of developing a competent pitching staff for the coming baseball season, battery practice will start this year one month earlier than usual with a meeting at 3 o'clock today at the Locker Building. All pitchers and catchers in the University, Freshmen included, have been urged to report, whether or not they can begin practice tomorrow, due to engagement in other sports.

Plans for the year will be detailed by the three speakers, Captain Jenkins, Coach Slattery and Battery Coach Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell will have complete charge of the battery candidates. Coach Slattery will not be in daily attendance until after midyears.

Coach Mitchell will give the pitchers and catchers his undivided attention until the middle of April, after which time he expects to be able to come to the field only two or three times a week. The work now will consist mainly in building up the fundamentals of an able pitching squad. Practice will start tomorrow.

Men now engaged in other sports and those who cannot practice until later will do well to attend the meeting in order to hear the plans. All Freshmen who come out will automatically be relieved of any other physical training requirement.
