Anonymous Donor Makes Annual Award to Stimulate Scholarship

An annual prize of $50 has just been established in the College to be given each year to the Junior showing the greatest promise among the students concentrating in the field of History and Literature, it was announced last night at the University.

The name of the donor of the new prize was not revealed but it is understood that he is a Harvard man who graduated recently from the College with distinction, and wishes to popularize high scholarship among the graduates.

The Committee on Degrees in History and Literature, of which Professor R. B. Merriman '96 is chairman, announces that the award will be made ordinarily in May, and that within a year the winner is to use the money in the purchase of books of any description except current fiction.
