Brilliant Brown 1928 Halfback Catches Pass and Runs to Touchdown--Game Decided by Breaks

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In a game that was decided wholly by breaks, the University Seconds went down to defeat yesterday afternoon on Soldiers Field at the hands of the Brown Freshman combination by a score of 7 to 6.

It was 35 seconds before the end of the first half, after both teams had attempted ineffectively for 23 minutes to score, that Rudman recovered a Brunonian fumble on the one-foot line. Scott called for time out immediately. When the ball was put into play again Clark had just 10 seconds to leap across a mound of prostrate Brown bodies for the Seconds only touchdown. Scot's kick was blocked.

The third period was uneventful. Neither team was able to deliver a telling blow, handicapped as each was by a fierce and biting gale that swept down the field.

The fourth period was not five minutes old when Randall, the speedy Brown halfback who starred for Andover last year, intercepted a forward pass in mid-field and ripped off 50 yards for a touchdown and six points which tied the score. His kick realized victory.
