YALE LOOMS BIG IN FINAL TRACK EVENT

Norton, Blue Sprinter, Nets as Many Points in Intercollegiates as the Entire University Team

Princeton came in second in the Intercollegiates last week with 29 1-2 points. Yale scored 26 1-2 points for third honors, while Harvard with 12 points tied Penn State for eighth.

The fact that one man on the Yale team, Norton, got as many points as Harvard's total bodes ill for the Crimson in the dual meet. Norton won the broad jump with 23 feet 11 inches to his credit, placed second in the short dash, and third in the 220-yard sprint. He will be a dangerous man for Harvard in the meet on June 15. It looks as if the Elis could count on him for 15 points.

Elis Scored Often

In the quarter the Blue team scored two men. Captain Gage came in second and Paulsen fourth. In the two-mile run another Eli, Briggs, was fourth, behind Tibbetts of Harvard, Barclay of Penn State, and Loucks of Syracuse. In the high jump Yale again figured with Deacon, who cleared the bar at 6 feet 1 inch. By throwing the spear 186 feet 4 inches Bench of Yale took first place in the javelin event. Bench was in Cambridge ten days ago looking over the Crimson weight men in the Princeton meet.

Harvard will have another stiff proposition when it travels to New Haven in two weeks to face these Blue athletes. The Crimson team, it was announced last night, will be hampered by the loss of its star hurdler, Fletcher, who is forced to give up track on account of ill health. Coach Farrell calls him "the best hurdler we have ever had", but goes on to say that he has never been able to do his best on account of his physical condition. In the indoor meets this winter, Fletcher showed what he might do under favorable circumstances, but this spring his health again failed him and he was far from his best.

Crimson Faces Strong Hurdlers

Fletcher's absence means that Robb and Kane will have to do some hard training in the hurdle events. Against Princeton the Yale hurdlers showed up about as well as the Crimson men did, that is a third in the low fences behind Howell and Scattergood and a second to Scattergood in the high. Harvard also scored a third in the high.

The Crimson team went to the Intercollegiates minus its champion sprinter, Miller, who was slightly injured in the Princeton meet. Miller, however, will be in condition again by the time of the Yale meet. He should push Norton to fast time in the 100.
