F. H. GREY '06 IS AUTHOR OF "THE MATINEE GIRL" SCORE

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The music for "The Matinee Girl", a musical comedy now playing to packed houses at the New Park Theatre in Boston, was written by F. H. Grey '06.

While in college as an undergraduate Mr. Grey concentrated in music and was active in extra-curriculum musical work. After leaving college in 1906 he collaborated with J. C. Goodwin '73, in many Broadway successes. He then became interested in conducting and took charge of the orchestras of several big musical shows and operettas, including a production of Cavalleria Rusticana. He composed songs and scores for a number of musical comedies. After this he went on the road for some years "learning that anything constitutes an orchestra from a jewsharp to an accordion, and that bad musicians on he one-nighters were as often good blacksmiths, cobblers and back drivers as well as bank presidents, selectmen, and town 'Pooh-Bahs'"
