The series of meetings, both formal and informal, for the incoming class, which started yesterday with the completion of registration, will reach its high point today and almost every hour of the day will afford the Freshman an opportunity to meet advisors, listen to speeches and in general become acquainted with the life of the college.

Today's events will start at 8.45 o'clock at Appleton Chapel where Professor R. DeC Ward '89, chairman of the board of Freshman Advisors, will speak at a 15 minute service. At 9 o'clock the entire class of 1930 and all other new students will assemble at the New Lecture Hall to hear four short, but vital, talks, Delmar Leighton '19, secretary of the Committee on the Choice of Electives, will explain the principles of "concentration" and "distribution"; Associate Professor J. B. Conant '13, will outline the methods used in the study of science in the University; Assistant Librarian W. B. Briggs will outline the best way to make use of the college library; and Professor R. B. Merriman '96, lecturer in one of the most popular. Freshman courses, History 1, will talk on "How to Get the Most Out of A Big Lecture Course."

Faculty and Student Advisors in Sessions

Beginning at 10.30, Faculty Advisors will hold office hours to discuss with their charges the planning of their college curriculum. From 12 to 2 o'clock in the afternoon, the members of the student advisory committee will be in session in the four Freshman Halls available for conference to the men assigned to them. Any Freshman who has not regularly been assigned to an upperclassman, should apply for an advisor at that time.

The feature of the day's events will probably be the informal gathering at 7.30 o'clock in the Living Room of the Union, where a distinguished list of speakers is scheduled to address the incoming class. Assistant Dean L. S. Mayo '10, in charge of the Class of 1930, will preside, and he will introduce the following speakers; Dean C. N. Greenough '98, the head of Harvard College; J. W. D. Seymour '17, secretary of the Alumni Association and secretary to the University for Information: F. V. Field '27, president of the CRIMSON; and C. D. Coady '27, captain of the University football team.

Hocking at Appleton Chapel

Tomorrow the service in Appleton will be conducted by Professor W. E. Hocking '01, Alford Professor of Natural Religion, Moral Philosophy and Civil Polity. Immediately following this at 9 o'clock there will be a preliminary meeting of English A compulsory for all Freshmen, except those who have anticipated or except to anticipate English A. This meeting is assigned to the New Lecture Hall.

An early opportunity to take examinations to meet the language requirements which must be passed off before a student may enter the Junior Class will be given on Saturday afternoon. At 7.30 o'clock an informal meeting will be held in the living room of the Union at which T. N. Perkins '91, former Fellow of Harvard College, will speak, Dean Greenough presiding.
