WINTHROP AMES '95 RETIRES FROM PRODUCTION OF PLAYS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Winthrop Ames '95, one of the great producers of the American theatre, has announced his retirement from active work with plays.

He began his dramatic career during his undergraduate days at Harvard, when his "Proserpina" was presented as the Hasty Pudding Club show of 1895.

Lately Mr. Ames had given up the production of plays to turn his attention to Gilbert and Sullivan revivals. The noteworthy staging of these early musical comedies has given him a place among the leading producers of the world.
