CRIMSON SUMMONS CANDIDATES TODAY

Sophomores Have Final Opportunity to Make the News, Photographic, or Business Boards

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The second CRIMSON competition of the year will get under way tonight at 7 o'clock, when candidates for the four departments of the paper will gather in the CRIMSON Building, 14 Plympton Street.

The News, Business, and Photographic Departments at this time issue a last call to Sophomores, while Juniors will have a final opportunity to make the Editorial Board.

The winter competition is the shortest of the three try-outs held yearly by the CRIMSON. It has an added advantage in that it is broken by the Christmas vacation.

First Week Easy

The first week is conducted in such a manner as to acquaint the men with their work, and time is given to enable candidates to become acclimated to the atmosphere of a newspaper office. During the examination period work is reduced to a minimum.

News candidates will be shown the details of their work this week, when assignments to the various sports and activities will be made. While each candidate will have assignments to cover, the bulk of their work will consist of getting "scoops".

The opportunity of meeting renowned people for interviews, together with the connections made with the University authorities, are only a few of the many interesting points about the News competition. The candidate is put entirely on his own initiative in getting scoops and routine office work is a negligible quantity.

Editorial Work Interesting

Editorial candidates will be introduced to the "editorial" manner of writing. This competition offers an opportunity to those interested in University activities to express their opinions in the editorial columns of the paper.

No experience is necessary for those men who aspire to a place on the Photographic Board. Full instructions in the use of a camera will be given and ample time provided in which the men may learn the tricks of the camera game.

For those interested in advertising and business the Business competition offers unparalleled advantages. Their work consists of getting "ads" for the paper, and offers excellent opportunities to men who desire business experience and intimate contact with the business world.
