HARVARD RECEIVES GIFT FOR MUSICAL EDUCATION

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Under the will of Charles H. Ditson, formerly president of the Oliver Ditson Company, Harvard is to be the recipient of a $100,000 request to be used for musical education. Similar amounts for the same purpose were left to Yale, Columbia, and Princeton as well as to the New England Conservatory of Music, the Chicago Musical College, the College of Music in Cincinnati, and the Ann Arbor School of Music.

Famous during his lifetime as a music publisher and dealer in musical instruments, Ditson left much of his fortune for the purpose of helping students to gain a musical education.
