LIBERAL CLUB TO MEET WEDNESDAY

Lecturer is Field Secretary of League of Industrial Democracy--Members of Socialist Club Join Ranks

As the first event of the year, the Harvard Liberal Club will held a meeting on Wednesday in Lowell House, at which time Paul Porter, Field Secretary of the League for Industrial Democracy will give an address.

Members of the Socialist Club, which has suspended activities and disbanded for the year, have been asked to join the Liberal Club. This organization will continue to hold meetings at intervals during the year, at which various wellknown liberals will be invited to speak. Among the speakers last year to address the club were, H. E. Barnes, Lewis Mumford, Felix Micheljohn, Waldo Cooke and C. C. Little. The list of those who will address the group during this year has not been announced.

Porter a Writer

Porter is a graduate of the University of Kansas, where he was editor of the university daily, editor of a student liberal journal, and president of the university Y. M. C. A. As Field Secretary of the League for Industrial Democracy, he has travelled extensively in the Far East studying the conditions in China, and as correspondent for the Nation and the New Leader, he has made a study of unemployment, factory conditions, and textile strikes.

Last year under the leadership of W. H. Melish '31, president of the Socialist Club, a fortnightly publication called The Socialist was printed, to which contributions were made by several Socialist leaders, and by other college liberal organizations. Activities, however, will be suspended this winter, but it is hoped that another year will see its reorganization.

All people interested in the Liberal Club, should communicate with D. H. Popper '32, Dunster G-54; membership blanks will be given out at Wednesday's meeting. The executives of the club are: Popper, president, R. S. Lehman '34, William Stix '32, A. S. Hartshorne '34, and A. R. Whitman '34.
