HOCKEY SQUAD HAS EASY TIME AGAINST TECH AGGREGATION

Harvard Coach Uses Three Goal Tenders During Game--Gleason Fractures His Arm in Collision

The 1930 performance of the hockey team against M. I. T. was repeated last night when the Crimson sextet swamped the Engineers and emerged from the contest with an easy 7 to 1 victory in its initial game this season. The Technology team furnished no real opposition but the encounter gave Coach Stubb's a chance to test his squad. Three forward lines and three goalies were used by Harvard. One man was lost temporarily to the Harvard squad, when a collision between Hayes and Gleason resulted in a dislocated arm for the latter.

From the opening face-off Harvard was on the offensive, but wild shooting cost the Crimson several scoring opportunities. After 15 minutes of play a shot by Crosby caught the Tech goalie napping and scored Harvard's first point. Shortly afterward Wood took the puck past the Tech defense and netted a hard shot from a difficult angle.

Scoring Continues

Harvard's third line started the second period with Hale replacing deGive at goal. In less than two minutes, Salton stall accounted for the Crimson's third score on a rebound from Pell. After the first line had returned to the game, Wood duplicated his first period play and added another goal to the total. Late in the period, Thomson and Hrones broke through the Harvard defense to push the puck past Hale for the only M. I. T. score. Two minutes later Baldwin took a pass from Putnam and tallied the last goal of the period. The third period saw C. E. Ware in the net for Harvard. In this stanza the Technology defense stiffened until in the last five minutes of play, Crosby and Beale each scored to make it 7 to 1.
