ORCHESTRA WILL OPEN SERIES WITH PROGRAM OF STRINGED NUMBERS

Concert at the Cantabrigia Club Will Be Initial Presentation of 125th Anniversary Season

The Harvard University Orchestra, under the direction of Malcolm H. Holmes '28, will open its one hundred and twenty-fifth, anniversary concert season with a string orchestra concert at the Cantabrigia Club this afternoon. The program which will be given is as follows: Bach, Suite in B Minor for Flute and Strings; Holst, St. Paul's Suite; Grieg. Two Lyric Pieces (Herzwunden, Der Fruhling); Frescobaldi, Fugue in G Minor.

The concert schedule for the current season is as yet tentative, although joint concerts have already been arranged with the Harvard Glee Club, the Radcliffe Orchestra, and the Glee Club of Colby Junior College. Full orchestra concerts will be given at the Boston Public Library, the Harvard Club of Boston, and in Paine Hall. The dates for all of the above concerts will be announced later.

The Harvard University Orchestra, or the Pierian Sodality of 1808, is probably the oldest musical organization in ably the oldest musical organization in the country, having an unbroken existence as a playing orchestra since its foundation. It aims to promote interest in classical music not only among students at Harvard but also in other colleges and preparatory schools. Such concerts have become a notable portion of the orchestra's schedule, and are regarded as among its most interesting opportunities and privileges.
