R. L. Anthony 1G.B., carsman on the University crew at Yale for three years, will act as coach for the Eliot House Boat Club this spring, it was learned yesterday. R. B. Merriman '96, Gurney Professor of History and Political Science, has invited members of the club to meet Anthony at the Master's lodgings on Monday evening.
The interest in rowing at Eliot, the only House which will have an individual coach, was amply demonstrated yesterday, when two full eights reported at Newell boat house. It is hoped that three boats will be manned later in the season.
In addition to acquiring the services of Anthony, the club dues will be used to purchase watch charms for members in the first Eliot eight. In the event of Eliot's winning the House championship, the charms will be finished in gold, otherwise in silver. About thirty men have already joined the club, whose president is J. M. Erickson '32.
