On the invitation of the captain of the ship, fifteen members of the University Naval Science courses steamed out to open sea yesterday in the newly reconditioned cruiser U.S.S. Milwaukee. The short voyage, which was a preliminary to the annual summer cruise of Naval Science Department, lasted six hours, while the cruiser proceeded at full speed out past Cape Anne and back again to the Boston Navy yards, a distance of more than 120 miles.

During the summer months the majority of the department will cruise on Eastern waters.
