Although neither University officials nor Kirkland House tutors would make any definite announcement yesterday concerning the resignation of E. A. Whitney '17 as Master of Kirkland House, it is expected that he will not be active in the University next year, and will probably be absent from Cambridge during the winter.
In a board meeting tomorrow, however, the matter will be brought up, definitely disposed of, and undoubtedly a new Master appointed to fill his place. No information could be obtained as to who will be his successor.
Professor Whitney was appointed as master of Kirkland House on November 25, 1929.
