Petitions were posted yesterday in all the House by students who are anxious to organize a 150-pound football team. As soon as there are enough signatures, a formal petition will be tendered the H.A.A.
In commenting upon the action, William J. Bingham '16, Director of Physical Education and Athletics, stated: "As far as we are concerned, there will be no reconsideration. Last year we organized a 150-pound football squad in the middle of the season, knowing we had no outside competition except a game with Yale. Because the Yale team had a prearranged schedule of five games this fall, we told those interested in 150-pound football that we would not support a team unless we were assured of competition. None of the colleges in the vicinity of Boston would support a 150-pound football team. We, therefore reluctantly decided against the plan at the beginning of the season."
